There have been some complains in my family that there's knitting projects everywhere around the house.  It's supposedly contained in my office, but it's managed to escape into the living room, my bedroom, the kitchen, and the spare bedroom.  An in all honesty, I don't even know how much yarn I have, even with Ravelry's help.

I figured, to keep the peace in my household, I've decided to knit so much that it will cause "knitter's elbow" (if that even exists).  There I was, holed up in my office trying to come up with patterns to crochet or knit.  There were so many skeins of Lily Sugar and Cream yarn, but I couldn't help it.  It was so nice, soft, and perfect to make amigurumi animals from my Japanese amigurumi pattern books that I purchased from Etsy and Kinokuniya Bookstores (another addiction).  Then it hit me, why not make amigurumi fruits?  Hmmm. it was worth a shot.  I made a strawberry amigurumi last year and maybe if I expanded, I would end up with something that can bust my stash.  I crocheted so much in that my wrists hurt.  Well, actually, they didn't hurt at first, but a couple of days later, I was experiencing DOKMS...Delayed Onset Knitter's Muscle Soreness.  No, DOKMS doesn't exist in the medical dictionary...not yet at least.

The second thing that I'm excited about is that after cleaning up Mike's computer (which I was using to do some graphic illustrations a while back), I found some of of my drawings.  I want to give many thanks to dearbarbz.  She posted her illustrations on her blog and so I think I will do the same...

This first illustration is a 5x7 drawing....

 

As you can see, the illustration is quite small and the I've added a calendar on the top left hand corner of the drawing.

Since I was cleaning up like crazy on Friday and Saturday, I found these awesome magnets that my mum bought me when I visited her in San Francisco...  I think I may start an amigurumi series on these as well...

 

The second installment in the Amigurumi Fruit Collection

Okay.  I really love those round things and made an orange one to attach to my bag, but Ashlynn swiped he charm before I could even claim it as my own.  Thank goodness I took a photograph of it to remember what I had lost....

 

Another first in another series of amigurumi fruits.  As with Mr. Tex Rex Pepper, I've committed this to paper as well.  When the set of fruits and veggies are finally finished, they will be posted on Etsy for sale.

 

He is the first in the series of amigurumi veggies that I'll be making.  He wasn't hard to make at all and I didn't make the same mistake I did the first time.  I committed him to paper, after all, I am selling the ami and the pattern.

I had a hard time coming up with a name for him, until the Pace Salsa commercial came on.  I ended up with "Mr. Tex Rex Pepper" and the name seems fitting since jalapeno peppers are added into salsas....

 

 

I have a Toki Doki duffel bag and purse to match, but unfortunately, the last time I used it, the keychain broke off when it went through the x-ray machine at the airport.  I was so mad, but there was no use in crying over spilled milk.  Since my bag had some cute characters on it, I decided to make the little round charms from Sachiyo Fukao's Leisurely Amigurumi pattern book.  These two were perfect since their colours are already on my bag!

After I made them, I was surprised at how many people I knew wanted one.  They said they'll even pay me for it.  How I wish I could sell those, but I wasn't the original designer.  I wasn't going to commit copyright infringement and plus, I am a designer myself so I respect other designers that I would only recreate their patterns for pleasure and not profit.

Mike wanted some serious amigurumi scuba divers made for a while.  He gets these bright ideas and tells me that I should create it.  I get scared out of my wits whenever he gets these ideas.  The last one he had was knitted Scuba Flag blanket.  It took me a full season to make the blanket and a lot of hair pulling in making the blanket.  I have the wall marks to prove it (I hurled the project quite a few times across the room).

So, he wanted an amigurumi scuba diver.  I made the first one and it didn't turn out quite right.  He didn't like it and was somewhat afraid to tell me.  I knew he didn't like it, I could just tell from the look on his face.  I asked him what can be done to make it better and he said to add skin colour to it. 

I made the next round and surprisingly, he loved it.  The bad part is that I didn't commit it to paper and gave the new and improved scuba ami to one of my students (which she loved).  I don't have the amigurumi to reference to if I made more.  I guess I have to wing it all over again....

 

 

I made this little pudding for a co-worker who promised me a ball of yarn if I made her something.  She wanted a the frog to hang in her car, but it was too much work and not worth making for just one ball of yarn.  So, I made this little pudding amigurumi for her and she absoluetly loved. it.

The pattern was easy to make and it came from Sachiyo Fukao's book Leisurely Amigurumi.

 

With the semester finally over, I was able to let my mind and my hands wander.  I mulled over my books, trying to decide what to make.  It wasn't until I found some left over green yarn from two years ago, that I had the urge to make this little cutie.

I somewhat started the project unwillingly, but I needed to do something when I finished reading Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris.  At first I thought the frog wouldn't turn out like the photograph in the book.  The head was too big, but then I remembered that all amigurumis aren't proportioned, with the head always bigger than the body (that's what makes them so cute).

After crocheting for hours and days on end causing some pain on my left arm and wrist (where a ganglion cyst was removed last year), I finally finished.

 

 

I've been on this Stash Busting Quest since I can remember.  And of course, I had so many Lily Sugar n' Cream cotton yarn as well as Red Hearts, I had to get rid of some of them.  What a better way to do it.

At first I wasn't really sure what to make, but after perusing my amigurumi pattern books, I found a set of five ami bears.  The first in the set was the Cinnamon Ami.  Since I have some left over light brown cotton yarn, she was the perfect project to do it on.  Unfortunately, I didn't gauge the pattern right and ended up running out.  I had to tweak the legs and arms of the doll to make it work.  I also had some odds and ends of Lion Brand Wool Ease Rose coloured yarn to make the accessories.  I'm really glad it worked out.
